Production Designer
Overview
Due to growth in our client base, particularly in direct response postal mail, we have an exciting opportunity for a Production Designer to join the team. The role is initially part-time with the potential to become full-time for the right candidate.
The production designer creates and prepares files and graphics primarily for print (direct response appeal packages, stewardship communications, event invitations), but potentially also for digital mediums, including email, advertising, and websites. They will work with creative leads, account directors and account managers to ensure designs are accurate and meet client and medium specifications.
About you
- You are an experienced production designer with a portfolio demonstrating 3–5 years of experience laying out packages for direct response marketing or fundraising campaigns.
- You have taken projects from concept to design, to layout to print and understand the process instinctively.
- You are skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and XD
- You are used to working in a high-velocity environment and able to work to a high degree of exactitude
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools like Asana, Monday, Wrike, Trello, Workfront, etc. and common messenger apps like Slack, Google Chat, MS Teams, required
- A desire to find better, more efficient ways of doing things
- An interest in the healthcare marketing and fundraising sector
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be the team member who ensures that direct mail packages are perfectly spec’d out, not only for print production but for scanning and tracking by the USPS, and for optimal experience of end users.
Create direct mail packages (75%)
- Create graphics: Using Adobe Creative Suite apps like Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign to create, manipulate, and finalize all the elements of direct mail packages including, outer envelopes, reply envelopes, buck slips, letters and reply devices.
- Prepare files for print production, including PDFs for client review
- Maintain standards: Adhere to color management standards and postal standards
Create related graphics for other channels (25%)
- Collaborate with account team and lead designer to prepare files for digital channels, including email, digital advertising (social, display, etc.), and websites
