John brings more than a decade of experience in the digital space, studying and working at the intersection of media, technology and culture. His work spans the healthcare, non-profit, advocacy and brand space. In leadership roles across multiple digital agencies, he has led successful strategic engagements and overseen digital budgets in excess of $100MM.


Before launching Digital Health Strategies, John was Managing Director at Blue State Digital – the digital agency best known for its work mobilizing millions of supporters and raising over $1 Billion for the historic 2008 and 2012 Obama presidential campaigns – where he oversaw client business and staff in the Washington DC office. Key clients included the American Hospital Association, the Cleveland Clinic, the California Hospital Association, Clinton Health Access Initiative, Enroll America, Google, NAACP, United Way, and US Olympic Committee.Prior to his time at Blue State, he was Vice President at Digitas, where he headed up digital brand initiatives for American Express; and Director of Media at Deep Focus, where he led digital strategy on premium brands like HBO, AMC, Estee Lauder and Microsoft.


John has been fortunate to work on campaigns that have won numerous awards including an Effie, multiple Webby’s and MIXX awards, and a One Show Silver Pencil. He is a frequent speaker at industry events like Advertising Week and OMMA, and has been quoted in the NYTimes and AdAge. John studied at McGill University and the University of Chicago and currently lives in Washington DC.
